LAS VEGAS – The champion of the World Sign Spinners Championship is from San Diego! Mark Wright won the 6th annual competition on February 22nd and 23rd at the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas. Competitors from all over the world competed, but San Diego’s very best came out on top!
Sign spinning is a guerilla-marketing concept that is a form of art and extreme sport. Sign spinners work to catch the attention of pedestrians and motorist to increase traffic to stores.
At the competition, sign spinners performed choreographed routines on a song of their choice. Competitors were judged based on performance and showmanship, style and originality, and technicality of trick knowledge and execution. Dj Kn3z came all the way from Croatia to perform!
Mike Wright worked hard this year and came out the winner in Las Vegas. He is from El Cajon, San Diego and has been a sign spinner for the past 6 years, since he was 15.
